GACP Cultivation and Processing Facility

Location: Maluti, Lesotho

Maluti Green Med required consultancy and design services during the development of a cultivation and processing facility for the manufacture of pharmaceutical-grade cannabis products. Surrounded by the majestic Maluti mountains in Lesotho, the site offered advantageous factors such as high altitude and a favourable climate, while also posing challenges, such as a hilly landscape and periodically heavy rainfall. The rural and remote nature of the site necessitated that the facility become self-sufficient, relying on the immediate environment and involving the local community.

A desire to preserve and work with the natural landscape underpinned the design approach to the layout of the facility. Working with the contours of the land rather than flattening it, resulted in the creation of a terraced agricultural facility. This strategy lowered project costs, allowed for better management of stormwater and minimised disruption to the natural environment.
