Greenspace Studio, established in 2014, is an architectural firm based in Johannesburg. Combining a passion for purposeful design and an interest in innovative building solutions, Greenspace Studio has grown into a flexible business model that can meet a multitude of design requirements. Our small team of architects and draftsmen is led by founder and principal architect Tim Johnson. We care about designing spaces that enhance the living, learning and working that happens within them. Our design process is inspired by the unique context of each project and is underpinned by responsible and sustainable building principles. We have experience in residential architecture (new builds, alterations and additions), commercial architecture, education and sports facilities, community-based projects and master planning.

Site-specific Design
Our design approach is site-specific, sensitively responding to existing structures and the natural surroundings. We value intuitive design that is informed by the unique qualities of each site. We strive to design buildings that are enriched by their environment, securing a seamless interaction between interior and exterior spaces and between the space and its user.
Sustainable
Greenspace Studio is committed to responsible design and sustainable building practices. We make thermally efficient design decisions to ensure our designs are adapted to local climates. Through energy-efficient design, the careful selection of building materials and prioritising of natural light and ventilation, we develop architectural solutions that are ethical, sustainable and eco-friendly. Greenspace Studio is a member of the Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA).
