Tim Johnson is Greenspace Studio’s founder and principal architect. After graduating with a Masters Degree in Architecture from Wits University, Tim gained experience in large mixed-use retail developments and high-end residential projects in both London and Johannesburg, working in multi-disciplinary teams of various scales. Since establishing Greenspace Studio in 2014, Tim has broadened his design expertise to include education, sports facilities and master planning. A variety of bespoke projects have enabled him to explore his interest in community-based architecture and inclusive urban planning.

Tim is passionate about creating memorable and engaging spaces that have a positive impact on wellbeing and a strong connection to the natural environment. He strives to redefine and enhance the use of a space through innovative design that is underpinned by a holistic and sustainable approach. Tim’s goal is for Greenspace Studio to have a meaningful influence on the built environment through the creation of beautiful, enduring architecture that is inspired by the unique context of each build.

At Greenspace Studio, Tim oversees the entire design process from inception to completion, drawing on his strong management, technical and design skills. His comprehensive knowledge of construction technologies and a strong eye for detail ensures the smooth delivery of quality end-products. The design process is highly personal for Tim and he is known for the value he places on client relationships. Leading the Greenspace Studio team, Tim has pushed to achieve a warm, dynamic and collaborative studio that is eager to investigate new possibilities and technologies.

Mohammed Patel graduated from Wits University with a Bachelor of Architectural Studies in 2007. In his 13 years as an architectural technologist, Mohammed has been involved in an extensive range of projects, including luxury homes, apartment blocks, mosques, prefabricated classrooms and various industrial projects. Mohammed offers valuable insight into construction processes and an ability to work under pressure, having previously managed his own practice, as well as worked for other architectural studios in Johannesburg,

Mohammed’s belief in the value of living with nature and his strong interest in biologically inspired architecture is reflected in his sensitive and environmentally conscious approach to design.
